I can’t quite believe it, but I’m writing this blog post on the two year anniversary of us arriving in New Zealand! To mark this milestone, I’ve decided to compile a bit of a visual best of; photos that capture my top 10 New Zealand memories and experiences from the past couple of years. Many of these are destinations that have already featured on the blog, but I’m so behind on my writing that there are several new places I want to shine a spotlight on too. (I promise upcoming posts on all of them!)
I consider New Zealand my adoptive country in many ways, but of course I’m hardly a local. So with that caveat, here are my very favourite New Zealand highlights in no particular order.
A few months ago marked our one year anniversary of living here in lovely Wellington.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a local yet but I have come to feel at home in this city and seen more of its tourist offerings than any other part of New Zealand. And most parts of the world, come to think of it!
So today I’m going to put my knowledge of the coolest little capital in the world to good use. Read on for my list of top things to do in Wellington, including plenty that are 100% free!
15 months after arriving in New Zealand, I finally made it to the fabled South Island. It was a quick weekend getaway, just enough time to glimpse the highlights in Christchurch, drive up to Kaikoura and have a morning of whale watching (blog post coming soon) before heading back to catch our return flight.
Here are 5 things we got up to on our flying visit!
Full disclosure: though I thought I’d love Melbourne, my takeaway impression was lukewarm at best.
I don’t like to be too quick to judge a city, but I also want to be candid here on the blog when somewhere just doesn’t quite live up to expectations. But while I can’t recommend it unreservedly (and I think 5 days is too long for most people), there are definitely some gems that are well worth seeking out. So here’s our 5 day itinerary, in the hopes that it might help you plan your own trip to Melbourne! My favourites are highlighted with a ★.
